I just completed 1650 miles…that’s right…sixteen hundred and fifty miles of driving in 31 hours.  Let me explain.  My friend in Houston Texas gave me a deal I couldn’t pass up on a 2006 Honda Civic.  The major catch was that I had to go get it, so after a late night flight to Houston on Tuesday and a day with my friends Mark and Sandy, I hit the road Thursday at 11:00 AM.  I took a couple of one-hour breaks at rest stops to sleep but tried to get home as quickly as possible (trying to avoid Labor Day traffic).  I did well on the traffic part until I got near Washington DC (I hate DC traffic).  It was raining and I was seriously beat.  It was stop and go for about 45 miles!  Finally I was moving.  Can I just say that 31 hours in a Honda Civic for a guy my size isn’t great for the back.  I also could have used an air freshener.

Anyway, as God would have it, when I was about 25 miles from home (I could almost smell the mushroom farms) there was some kind of accident and the traffic just stopped…as in “put in in park baby.”  I was not happy.  I was feeling real sorry for myself until I saw the ambulances and emergency vehicles flying by.  Somebody’s day was much worse than mine!  Two hours later we finally started moving.

Michelle had dinner waiting for me (she rocks) and it’s great to be home!  I feel great after dinner and a long shower and the car is airing out…
