Driving Musings

7:59 am Uncategorized

There is no real flow to the following.  That is how my mind works come to think of it - but here are some happenings and thoughts I had “on the road.”

  • It was ominous driving through Louisianna with hurricane Gustav tracking their way.  There was lots of radio traffic about the storm.
  • What is up with all the churches in the South?  What about the Northeast for crying out loud?  By the way…this gets me every time I’m in the south.  The region is so much more “churched” than the Northeast.
  • I don’t eat very well on road trips.  I pounded 5 Krystals (little burgers) at like 3:00 in the morning.
  • I hate traveling alone.  As a rule, I avoid it like the plague, but I didn’t have many volunteers for this one.
  • I think I used up all my cell minutes on this trip
  • Back to the southern church thing…Is the Northeast just a bunch of heathens or something?  Somebody explain the Bible belt thing to me!
  • There was an awesome Christian radio station in Alabama.  I wish I could remember it so I could check it out online.  It kept me company for about 4 hours.
  • In my next life I might be a trucker.
  • I think a lot about launching a second campus in Delaware.
  • I’m not sold on my iphone yet…
  • Did you know you can buy a brand new home in Houston for $130K?
  • It’s not like I resent all the churches in the south…I just wish there were more here!
  • I heard some guys on ESPN radio pick the Eagles to win the NFC East.  Fly Eagles Fly!
  • I also heard the radio guys in Chicago busting on the Phillies for choking.
  • I heard a great song for a Russia orphans video production for our Christmas offering (it’s a surprise)
  • I was doing some mean singing (screaming) with Calling Levi (singing group) at about 2:00 AM.
  • I was digging listening to all the political rhetoric on the radio.  Between Barack’s acceptance speach and McCain’s VP announcement, the barbs were flying.
  • By the way…I agree with this blog about pastors and political endorsements.
  • Russian Prime Minister Vladimrr Putin is really starting to get on my nerves.

Loved this blog! I was LOL at work. All over the place, I love it! I also love me some Calling Levi! I’ll have to send them to your post. They’d get a kick out of it. :-)

I agree about endorsing candidates publicly. In fact, wouldn’t it be cool if we all got a bumper sticker that said “God loves McCain & Obama”
    Afterall it is the truth.

No more doesn’t mean better Kathleen …but I can’t really go there. It’s not healthy for me. We (and I know you know this) aren’t better than anyone else. We just are who we are and who we have been called to be. God is teaching ME to surrender my arrogance in this area. As for your second comment…I have been called much worse :)

Thanks Jenn. Can’t wait for CL to be with us in January. They’ve got nothing on you and Jeff.

Hope…you sound way smarter and deeper than me. I love your comment. It’s a great reminder that I can endorse the humanity of people - Christ died for us - while staying out of the politics. I never want my politics to be an obstacle to someone meeting Jesus.
