Daily Reminders Part 5
I have on my desk the book, My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers. It is the best selling devotional of all time. There are daily readings where Chambers offers his incredible God-given insight into God’s Word. Today’s reading was on prayer and dealt specifically with Luke 11:1 where the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Chambers says that prayer is not a natural thing to do. I can relate to that on a personal level. The earliest of Christ followers needed help in the area of prayer and the reality is that most of us do too.
This is a great book to keep around. Keeping a big fat Bible on my desk could become a HR issue or headache that I’m not looking for. Again, this reminder is for me and not to make a statement to others. Hopefully I make that statement with the way I work and interact with those around me. Taking a moment on my break to read helps me remember that I have a different world view than some. My true north points to Jesus Christ and I hope to live my life in a way that would reflect his love, truth, and grace. What kind of reminder do you have in your work place that helps keeps you centered. The Bible has a lot to say about reminders. You know why? Because we forget. We NEED to be reminded from time to time about what is important and why we were put on this earth. I am God’s representative to those with whom I work and so are you…
